Metropolis, the day after

Fashion / Music / Design / Graphics By Stefano Guerrini

Like many others, A-Lab too has just finished at Super, the fair held at the end of February in Milan, a project by Pitti Immagine and Fiera Milano, in collaboration with Milan City Council/Fashion, Design  and Culture Board and with CityLife. For several seasons now A-Lab has been one of the most interesting names to emerge on the Italian fashion panorama. Their prints, together with their study of shapes and volumes, make them stand out and lend appeal to creations by A-Lab Milano, reaching out to a truly international audience. We meet Simona Costa and Alessandro Biasi, and asked them to tell us about their latest creations, which are always the result of input from art and other creative, imaginary worlds, moulded by these two designers into desirable contemporary collections.

Can you briefly describe the s/s 2013 collection for us?
The s/s 2013 collection expresses our romantic nostalgic side. We have created our garden of Eden, giving Eve a contemporary makeover, overlapping street influences with prints inspired by Naturalism. A mix and match of cultures, prints and colours.

The collection must-have?
The tube dress in jacquard fabric, with abstract floral design, characterised by a sculpted silhouette.

Just a few words to describe the f/w 2013-14?
A look at the future, through the past. Tailored structured jackets over garments with sportswear allure, sweats and Biker Jackets. While for prints, we were again inspired by nature, but this time reworking the flower element in a Glitch key.

A special memory linked to Super?
The energy and enthusiasm that comes from dialogue with new creative realities.
