Design Teaser: Flavia La Rocca

Fashion / Music / Design / Graphics By Stefano Guerrini

A young Italian talent who has fashion in her genes. Yes, because Flavia La Rocca’s passion for fashion started when she was little. Thanks to two dressmaking aunts and a mother who sewed as a hobby she was raised surrounded by needles, thread and fabric. After graduating from La Sapienza in Sciences of Fashion and Costume and various work experiences in the press offices of important names, this Roman designer saw her dream come true with creation of her own label in 2011. For flavialarocca she designs multi-function clothes that change, adapting to different situations during the day, mainly varying in length, but also in types of use. This brand sees her stand out as one of the most interesting emerging names in Italy and it also took her to Super, the innovative new project by Pitti Immagine and Fiera Milano, in collaboration with Milan City Council/Fashion, Design and Culture Board and with CityLife, the first of edition of which was held just a few weeks ago.

Can you briefly describe the s/s 2013 collection for us?
For summer 2013, well-defined geometrics in the shapes of little dresses, tops and multi-function skirts in cotton, crêpe or towelling. Sky blue, copper, burgundy and aquamarine on block or two-tone garments.

The collection must-have?
The little coat in sky blue cotton that becomes a short jacket.

Just a few words to describe the f/w 2013-14?
The next autumn/winter will see a prevalence of printed jacquards which, on bases of classic black and taupe, will be coloured in wine purple, teal green and brick. From a totally different world we will see the arrival of silver and black lurex and PVC. Masculine inspired oversize shapes together with deep V necks and corsets for a woman who is always feminine.

A special memory linked to Super?
New acquaintances made and chats with the other New Talents. It is always good to find new synergies.
