In cooperation with ITKIB - Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations, the guest nation at this edition of Pitti Uomo and Pitti W will be Turkey, one of the most interesting players in fashion research today, one of the countries that is able to combine a strong and qualified industrial system with a wide culture in contemporary design, especially among the younger generation. The Sala della Scherma at the Fortezza da Basso will be the dedicated area hosting collections by a select group of Turkish designers such as Niyazi Erdoğan, Hatice Gökçe, Emre Erdemoğlu, Zeynep Tosun, Aslı Filinta, Elif Cığızoğlu and Deniz Kaprol featuring with accessories by RUMISU – without forgetting the other Turkish labels participating in Pitti Uomo - LTB, Avva, Hatem Sayki, Kigili and Ramsey.
This year the main theme of the Guest Nation area will be “Gentlemen of Istanbul: 7 Gentlemen from 7 designers from the city on 7 hills“ which takes its actual concept and its inspiration from the deeprooted clothing culture of the Turkish Gentlemen, based on Istanbul‘s prominent districts with different characteristic of cultural textures with modern designs prepared with today’s technology and the 2014 SS trends.

Born in 1978, with a deep passion for architecture and design, he has been creating menswear collections for three seasons and has taken part in many competitions and workshops.
After developing the men's collections of Donna Karan for three years, Elif goes back to Turkey to launch his own brand: the first show was in February 2011. Its collections enhance the femininity with a strong focus on geometric shapes and strong colors.
With the collection "The Glider", a tribute to the memory of Otto Lilienthal, heroic pioneer of gilder’s flights, the Turkish designer was awarded the National Chamber of Italian Fashion Award at the 20th edition of Mittelmoda The Fashion Award. A style in menswear that finds its soul in the lessons of the past and mixes it with new technical applications.
Her design atelier was established in 1998- the year he was awarded the Best Menswear Designer prize in Turkey- and, since then, she has been a key figure on the men’s fashion scene. She was the first Turkish designer to work with the Chinese fashion world.
Born in Istanbul and trained at the Marangoni Institute in Milan, she landed a job as fashion designer for Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti before going back to Turkey and coming third at the ITKIB young contest in 2007. In September 2008, after having worked as assistant to Ece Ege, the creator and designer of Dice Kayek, she launched her own bespoke haute couture and ready-to-wear label.
Her brand, born in New York in 2008, brought the oriental style of her hometown Istanbul to the American city. Creativity, culture and experimentation. Her major source of inspiration is the DIY - Do It Yourself - art and culture approach.
Educated in New York, she has worked as designer and brand manager for major fashion houses and, in 2001, she was awarded the Best Accessory Designer prize. In 2004, she launched her own brand: modern jewelry and avant-garde inspiration. She has been on the jury of several design competitions and created a prize for the Fashion Design Association.
