A PROJECT TO FIND NEW TALENTS*

"Who's on Next?" is a competition created to find new Italian or Italy-based fashion talents: the most important launch pad for young designers and one of the most eagerly awaited moments for sector talent scouts on the lookout for tomorrow’s successful fashion designers. The competition was set up in 2005 with Who's on Next? / DONNA, an initiative devised and organised by Altaroma in collaboration with Vogue Italia, for the promotion of creative innovation and young businesses in the world of fashion, one of the most representative Made in Italy sectors in the world.

The success of this competition for emerging young names in prêt-à-porter for woman led to Who's on Next? / UOMO, dedicated to scouting for young talents in men’s fashion, a project that saw collaboration between Pitti Immagine, Altaroma and L’Uomo Vogue. At the summer Pitti Uomo, an international jury of top buyers, big names from journalism and opinion makers was called on to judge the finalists’ collections – showcased in a specially designed space that could be visited by all the operators at the fair – and to select the winners, who get the chance to create a solo event at the January Pitti Uomo.

The overall winners of Who's on Next? / UOMO in fact join the programme THE NEW PERFORMERS/PITTI ITALICS by Fondazione Pitti Discovery, the creative platform that develops further occasions and opportunities for new talents and for those who work with the tangible materials of fashion, combining them with the different artistic and aesthetic disciplines. “The New Performers/Pitti Italics” has been made possible thanks to valuable support by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.

The Who is On Next? Uomo competition is promoted by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and Pitti Imagine and produced thanks to a special grant from the Ministry for Economic Development and the ICE (Italian Trade Agency) in support of Italian trade fairs and Made in Italy.
All activities of FPID aimed at the promotion of new talents and young designers are supported by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.

The handling of the personal information collected during Who is on Next? 2017 will be carried out in full compliance with the provisions of Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 dated 30 June 2003.
