Mariavittoria Sargentini was born in Perugia in 1976. She divides her time between Umbria, Sicily, Tuscany and Sardinia. After having studied art, literature, fashion and costume for nine years she began working with Antonio Marras and then was the style assistant at Carpe Diem. Her Linea project for Maurizio Altieri marked the end of her training period and the birth of her own brand, Marvie in 2006.
The items that come out of the Marvie research lab are the result of taking classic garments apart and putting them back together again through a study of form and function. The guiding theme of each collection is “dress consciously and comfortable” and that applies to everyday wear too. T-shirts, S+M+L, Jersey coating are the three lines through which the design functionally redefines the codes of a wardrobe for all seasons. The study of form is based on research on materials, on items that are in balance between minimalism and a sophisticated avant-garde vision giving life to visual and sensory experiments.
