Umit Benan was born in Germany in 1980. After earning a degree in business administration in Boston, his passion for fashion led him to take design courses at the St. Martin College of Arts of London, Parsons the New School for Design in New York and the Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Benan divides his time between London, New York and Milan. Over the years he has worked on women’s collections for Marc Jacobs, Motu Tane by Francois Nars & Sophie Theallet and Pollini, and as an assistant to Rifat Ozbek. He went on to become head designer for Cacharel Homme and then, in 2008 created his first men’s collection. He presents a total look with an unmistakable silhouette using fine blends of silk, cotton and noble materials. The Umit Benan collections combine a jet set aura with plays of color, making references to films from Scarface to Blow and his own personal experiences and his years in New York.
