A world premier at the 63rd edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo: the Stazione Leopolda (the space dedicated by Pitti Immagine to the most advanced research in fashion and fashion culture) will be hosting, on Thursday 9 January, the first-ever menswear collection by Viktor & Rolf.
This is one of the most eagerly-awaited debuts of recent seasons. Since their first appearance in Paris’ Haute Couture calendar, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, both Dutch and both just a tad over thirty, have polarized the limelight with surprising fashion shows that are almost new forms of entertainment: Black Hole, a full-black collection; Russian Doll, a surreal ceremony of investiture with a single model, on whose form more and more sumptuous articles of clothing are layered, one by one, right on the runway; Tap Dance, a “musical” in every sense of the word, with a finale dance number led by the two designers in white tailcoats.
In short: an innovative, eclectic, radical vision with extremely high imaginative content. An approach that immediately launched the duo into orbit among the most brilliant stars of the world creative firmament.
