As part of the Firenze Hometown of Fashion program, during Pitti Uomo 86, au jour le jour will present its first-ever Florence fashion show. The young, but already acclaimed brand, born from the fusion of the creative talents of Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez, will present the garçon line at the Dogana.

It is totally Italian but with a strong cosmopolitan flair, and will present the men’s collection for the first time as part of the Pitti Italics program. It is truly a pleasure to offer Mirko and Diego the extraordinary setting of Firenze Hometown of Fashion to show their unique creative concepts”.

au jour le jour is one of the two names in this season’s Pitti Italics program – the Fondazione Pitti Discovery project that promotes and supports new generation fashion designers who design and manufacture in Italy, and are already known on the world’s markets.

Presented for the first time in 2010, the au jour le jour brand is the fruit of the fusion of the creative talents of Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez, a young duo who combine a mix of different and complementary experiences. Mirko, has a degree in business management and worked in fashion communications; Diego earned his degree in construction engineering in Bologna, and later was marketing manager for an Italian women’s clothing label. In 2011 they were the finalists in the Who’s On Next, competition in Rome, organized by Vogue Italia and AltaRoma: it was this experience that led them to significant international growth. In February 2014, Giorgio Armani selected the brand as
part of the program supporting young Italian creatives: au jour le jour made its debut with a runway show at the Armani Teatro, as part of the Camera Nazionale della Moda official calendar.
Each au jour le jour collection is a new story, with a different “world” inspiring the imagery, influencing the choice of fabrics, the palette and the uniqueness of each detail. References range from art to the pop and street countercultures, from films to the atmospheres of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, and they are transposed into the brand’s distinctive silhouettes with sartorial care and modern lines that wink at retro looks, at sporty trends and at a masculine-feminine mix.
