What do you expect from this experience at Pitti Uomo and The Latest Fashion Buzz?
I have loved fashion since I was little and it has always brought me great joy. I was fascinated by the hand-wovens that I found in India and I set up by own shirt brand as I discovered I enjoyed the production process.
I would like to know what buyers from all over the world think about my shirts, the result of my personal evaluation and intuition. I would like my collection to become a communication tool for international buyers and connect sincerely with the rest of the world. I hope this event will bring me luck.
Which are your professional project for the future?
I would like all my custom shirts to be hand-made. They have a warm handle. I like machine-made fabrics as they produce perfect articles. Hand-made fabrics are opaque and imperfect - their opaqueness is my look. I would like to spread beautiful Indian hand-made fabrics around the world via PERIOD FEATURES.
From what a Designer must begin to give style to women/men, without giving their identity up?
They must continue to pursue a form of production for their personal enjoyment, not for that of third parties. They should love fashion. I can think of nothing better than to love and hopefully meet the partner who will be responsible for the business side of your collection.
When did your passion for fashion and design begin?
My relationship with fashion is 5 years old, Japan has the tradition of HICHI(7)GO(5)SAN(3), which means a celebration of growth in 7 years, 5 years and 3 years. I made a bespoke suit for that celebration. I decided all the coordination on my own and since then I have loved cloth and decided all my coordination myself.
I became a stylist when I was 20 years old and then a fashion editor, press production, store designer and now a collection designer. I am passionate about things that excite me and things I enjoy.
What are the key pieces - the real must-haves - of your collection?
Who is the designer who inspires you? Who is your fashion icon?
The person who inspires me? Giorgio Armani? When I was 18, fashion was college style. We did not know enough about Europe then.
I saw the Giorgio Armani press campaign photo and article in a L'Uomo Vogue that one of my friends had. This picture changed the entire fashion world.
I don’t have a fashion icon.
