Designers Matteo Gioli (SuperDuperHats) and Stefano Ughetti (Camo) will be the Pitti Italics at the 87th Pitti Uomo. They will stage a performance-event for the world premiere showing of their first duo-project, the Arrivo collection for men, inspired by their shared passion for the world of cycling.
Arrivo is one of the participating names in this edition of Pitti Italics – the Pitti Immagine program created to promote and support new generation designers who design and produce fashion in Italy and who already have an international reputation.
“After Who is on Next? Uomo we kept a close eye on Stefano Ughetti and Matteo Gioli, their respective brands and the way their collections developed with totally contemporary slant on craft traditions”, says Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine Director of Communications and Events. “We are happy to offer them the Pitti Uomo stage and audience for the presentation of the Arrivo collection. This new, four-hand achievement is an innovative interpretation of traditional men’s clothing, a combination of tradition and innovation which is now more current than ever before”.
In the designers’ words “This project is not a tribute to cycling as a sport, but to those men with legs of steel who made history. They climbed mountains and traveled roads that had been destroyed by the war with the desire to finish the race and release themselves from a world filled with uncertainties and sacrifices. ‘Arrivo’ means “finish line, but we also take it as the starting point for creating a new way of thinking of men’s clothing, taking our inspiration from those men who dreamed about the finish line, with only their legs to reach it…”
Arrivo is a collection comprising three items presented in three different colors and put together to form 27 outfits that reinterpret cycling clothes in detail. The basis of the collection is a binary code of black and white, a tribute to the images of the great cycling champions of the 1940s-50s. All Arrivo’s creations will have the double label Arrivo and Camo.
