The New Performer for prêt à porter at Pitti Uomo 79
At 79th edition of Pitti Uomo, Fabio Quaranta presented the international preview of his 2011-2012 fall winter collection in a fashion show at CANGO Cantieri Goldonetta in Florence Wednesday 12 January. The collection was presented also at Pitti Uomo inside the Fashion Design section (Fortezza da Basso, Ghiaia Pavilion).
The Fondazione Pitti Discovery selected Fabio Quaranta, the winner of the 2010 edition of “WHO IS ON NEXT? UOMO” in the prêt-à-porter category as the New Performer for Pitti Uomo 79.
The “New Performers” is a Pitti Discovery program aimed at creating opportunities for new talents in fashion and for those who work with fashion’s materials combing fashion with artistic and esthetic disciplines.
Born in 1977, Roman, astigmatic and left-handed, Fabio Quaranta had his first encounter with fashion when he planned a vinyl covering for an All Star sneaker. At the same time he created his own label, FQR for men’s ready-to-wear and developed artistic projects for Motelsalieri, a workshop where he invites creatives from all over the world to promote their work. Mr. Quaranta’s concept of fashion is linked to the idea of feeling good and at ease inside the clothes you wear. He loves uniforms in general and Enzo Cucchi’s style. His icons include Syd Barrett, Daniel Johnston, Gianni Colosimo, Will Oldham, Aleister Crowley and Carlo Benvenuto.
