Art and fashion talk Worklife

Fashion by Andrea Incontri

Worklife is the theme of the Spring Summer 2013 collection by Andrea Incontri, a clear reference: everyday work, the suit devised as a contemporary uniform to address your professional identity. Andrea’s cultural origin linked to studies of Architecture is acknowledged in the planning to ensure that design co-exists with everything that is handmade and handcrafted. The volumes of the suits outline the shapes of the body in a relaxed way. The fabrics have a tailored soul: canvas and cotton, linen with sifted fibres, soft jersey and super-light knitwear, fibres hand-woven like straw. The leathers of the accessories range from shiny calfskin to natural matt buffalo, from water-resistant waxed canvas to high-tech, laminated and metallic surfaces, with crackled pleating.

The colours are balanced – off-white, khaki, sand and ecru are the bases studied in detail, only then to reveal intense touches of burgundy, navy blue, hunter green, green-teal and silver, opening up to regimental stripes with a visual effect, block colours and super-sophisticated prints. The iconic garments are definitely the blazers with short and squared volumes, like the old sailor’s jackets; the boxer shorts inspired by traditional underwear become the new Bermuda shorts, alongside comfortable pyjama pants. On the feet, lace-up lug sole shoes, ankle boots and Franciscan sandals.
Each garment is defined in itself and at the same time complements the others, in an overall vision in which accessories destined to last throughout time are always important, like the bags that soften on the body. The end result: a versatile and informal wardrobe for contemporary worklife.
