Marco Betti is a finalist in Who Is On Next 2014, with his brand of footwear MOBI, let's see what he told us waiting to see his collection live at Pitti Uomo 86.
1. What did you think when you joined the competition, you expect to get one of the finalists?
When i joined the contest did not think to be able to get one of the finalists of course, but at the same time, i decided to try it. I was fascinated by the idea of being able to compare with my personal brand with a panel of industry experts. I think the comparison in one way or another are always positive and that is why we have already managed to get one of the finalists is one of esteem towards the way I'm doing with my brand and a great stimulus to continue.
2. Could you tell us a bit of your collection?
Life & Death is the theme of SS15 collection. Clean lines and strict, the use of three classic colors, offered alone or combined, translate the desire to be perfectly anonymous but actually deployed. Black, white and nude tones chosen metaphor of the human being and between life and death characterize the four models of the season. Derby, moccasin, vans and a derby with elastic proposed are always built on a sole that combines leather and micro with a double welt. A combination that reflects the spirit of the brand, the will to achieve a technical shoe and modern but that reflects and enhances the Italian manufacturing expertise. Two hides proposed that melt in a game of contrasts: a grain elk and half calf with a rubberized finishing. The materials are offered alone or in contrast, defining a color blocking effect.
3. Which projects / dreams you have for the future?
I would love to be able to continue and develop my project of shoes trying to find the right position and the right distribution (I prefer quality over quantity) also developing methods of distribution "different" (made to order), but at the same time I would like to be able to collaborate other fashion companies (currently I’m Shoes & Bags Product Manager of Neil Barrett) on product development and design of their collection with the aim to achieve in the future, my studio.
