Fashion / Design / Performance By Federico Poletti

The fifth edition of Who Is on Next? Uomo saw seven designers in competition including clothing and accessories. We met them to understand their background and latest collections. At Pitti Uomo 84 the finalists competing  to win the award dedicated to emerging Italian talents are 7. Starting from the prêt-à-porter we find L. Chiussi & F: accustomed all along to live the atmosphere of a tailor’s shop of the old times, open since 1868, Giorgio Chiussi recalls the bohemian dresses, elegant and refined, reinterpreted in a modern key. Matteo Molinari instead combines the traditional masculine tailoring with the equally classic technique of the crochet and hand-made knitting. Pure hides a female personality, Paola , who has imagined a collection which follows the principles of cristalloterapie combining linen, cotton and silk with stones such as lapis lazuli , quartz or tourmaline. Christian Pellizzari mixes fabrics and styles, merging sportswear and tailoring, casual and elegant, all inspired by a trip along the Pacific Coast Highway. As for the accessories world, Casamadre, a brand that consists of two shoe designer, borrows from the grotesque world of the circus the shape, style and materials of their carefully selected models . Super Duper Hats is a trio that has mastered the ancient art of hatters and that for this season offers a collection inspired by a wandering man, always on the go. Finally, the line of shoes Giacomorelli , is influenced by the Anglo-Saxon elegance but also by the colors of Spain. The two brands of accessories, Casamadre and Super Duper won ex aequo the contest and we will see them in Florence protagonists of a special event at the next Pitti Immagine Uomo (January, 2014). Stay tuned.
